As if any further proof was needed to affirm Brooklyn’s standing as the coolest borough in New York City, try this: an 18,000 square-foot climbing space concealed inside a nondescript parking garage. Brooklyn Boulders is the ultimate jungle gym for grown-ups, and the largest rock-climbing center in the city. Co-owners and avid climbers Jeremy Balboni and Steven Spaeth recruited local experts to create walls that simulate the irregularity of a real mountain.
Brooklyn Boulders can accommodate visitors of all skill levels, though the gym does have unique areas reserved for the more seasoned climber. Intermediates can attempt to scale a replica of the Brooklyn Bridge’s famed pointed arches, while a cave and stalactite await advanced climbers.
Two lucky winners will get to try their hands at bouldering with two all-access day passes courtesy of Brooklyn Boulders.
