What: The Queens International Night Market

Why: Queens is culinary catnip. Its smorgasbord of global goodies makes even a ride on the 7 train an enticing proposal, blending ambrosial aromas from nearby eateries with a dash of subway stink. Upping the delectability quotient is the Queens International Night Market, which debuted last year. Modeled after the popular open-air night markets of Asia, it features street food, art and free performances that represent the incomparable ethnic and cultural diversity of the borough.
A distinguishing factor is the wallet-friendly $5 price cap on food items. Feast on mouth-watering morsels from stalls selling Haitian, Korean, Indonesian, Chilean, Trinidadian, Brazilian, Romanian, Bangladeshi, Burmese, West African, Tibetan, Filipino, Jamaican and many more types of international cuisine. Dabble in Korean dumplings, Trinidadian shark sandwiches and Japanese takoyaki before ending your evening with Romanian twister cake or fried ice cream. It’s 100% family-friendly so bring the kids.
