Aside from having maybe the coolest name that a cheese farmstead could ever have, Cowgirl Creamery further separates itself from the pack with its delicious selection of artisan cheeses.
Yet another cool point: The Cowgirl Creamery is housed in a vintage restored barn. In addition to a cheese counter for tasting and buying, there is also a Cowgirl Cantina, a deli and wine shop perfect for picking up the fixings for a Point Reyes picnic.
There are also all sorts of learning opportunities. Cheese voyeurs can peer through the glass and watch the cheese being made (Wednesday through Sunday from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.), or you can get in on the action with a cheese class and tasting (Fridays at 11:30 a.m.) Make reservations for the tours and the classes in advance.
Directions
Take Golden Gate Transit bus 24 to the Fairfax – Broadway & Bolina stop, then transfer to the Public Transportation to the West Marin Stagecoach (bus 68), which runs to the Bear Valley Visitor Center.
