Description
The historic Claremont Resort has long been a Bay Area beacon of glamour, its picturesque white turrets peaking out from its perch in the Oakland Hills. The resort’s elegant restaurant, Meritage, opened in 2009, the latest in a long line of Claremont culinary legends.

Like its predecessors, Meritage feels like a sumptuous treat, from its breathtaking panoramic views of the Bay to its decadent menu (think seasonal, contemporary California takes on old-fashioned fine dining staples). hallmarks of the “vintage modern” decor include rich Mahogany, cool marble, original arches, and over-sized chairs.

And this we love: The wine-driven menu is divided into a white wine page and a red wine page, with a focus on California wines and chef-suggested entrees to pair with them (from $14 to $32). For those on a budget, nibble on treats from the bar menu or settle into a cushy club chair with a signature organic cocktail.
