What: Storm King Art Center Outdoor Exhibition
Where: Governors Island
When: Now through Sept. 25
Why: In its first exhibition outside its home campus in Mountainville, Storm King Art Center brings the work of American sculptor Mark di Suvero to Governors Island. Di Suvero’s dynamic, industrial pieces will dot green spaces on the island, including Picnic Point, the Parade Ground and near the Brooklyn Bridge Park ferry terminal, all against the backdrop of the city skyline and adjacent waterscape. Bring nibbles and stay a while.
Cost: Free to enjoy the art, free to ride the ferry Friday-Sunday. Bike rentals are also free for one hour on Fridays.
How to get there: Taking public transportation is one of the fun activities. Hop the Governors Island Ferry from 10 South Street.
Sarah Knapp is a Brooklyn based entrepreneur whose love for the outdoors and community building led her to the October 2013 creation of OutdoorFest.
