South Park Slope oenophiles can now uncork a bottle over cheese and charcuterie at bustling Brookvin, the newly-opened bar equivalent to neighborhood wine purveyor, Big Nose Full Body. Chef Dave Townsend (of Savoy fame) serves house-cured salumi and prepares seasonal bites to pair with a sundry list of vinos. Opt for three-ounce-sized pours for half the price of a full glass to taste a range of varietals that won’t take a bite out of your dining budget.
For the grape-adverse, there are draft beers and cocktails, and the big favorite bacon-infused bourbon. It’s a savory kick to the palate that is sure to find a following, especially when the owners, Aaron and Gillian Hans, launch Saturday afternoon demonstrations for those curious about cured homemade meat or hoping to make their own bacon whiskey.
How to get there: Take the F train to 7th Ave., head south on 7th avenue towards 10th St until you reach 381 7th. Wines by the glass generally range from $7–$12. (Brookvin, 381 7th Ave., Brooklyn, 718.768.9463, brookvin.com)
