What: Bridge as Icon, an art exhibition

Where: Tabla Rasa Gallery, Brooklyn, NY
Why: Celebrate the bridge on its 125th birthday. You’ve walked, biked, driven over it, and probably shared a picnic in the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park beside it. This Sunday, meet the artists who have interpreted and brought to life this New York landmark through original contemporary paintings, photographs, and installations.

How to get there: Take the yellow line’s southbound R Train to 45th St., walk to 48th St., turn right and walk down to #224. Exhibition reception Sunday 25th from 2:00 – 4:30 p.m. Gallery hours: noon – 5:00 pm Thursday, Friday, and Saturday through June. Call for updated summer hours. Josh Laskin is a freelance travel writer and photographer based in the White Mountains of New Hampshire. When he is not at work or on the road, you can find him in the mountains snowboarding, climbing, hiking, fly fishing, mountain biking, and eating bagel bites.

Carly Pifer is a freelance writer who has been known to follow whims inspired by romantic movie scenes or colorful street style shots to India, Japan, Tunisia and Argentina.
