Description
This small local shop is conveniently located a couple of blocks from the ferry dock. It’s not much to look at (and you’ll probably only find it if you’re looking), but it offers a great selection of rentals, from mountain bikes to in-line skates. Once you’ve got your wheels, head west toward Belvedere, a tiny island connected to Tiburon by a road along the water. There, you can ride through some seriously swanky houses on the hills. Warning: some of the hills get pretty steep, but the ride is less than three miles, and the architecture is definitely worth the work-out.
Alternately, head east along the water and the Tiburon Uplands Nature Preserve (note that it’s not permissible to bike inside the reserve, but the ride around it is lovely). Distance here is up to you, but a good estimate would be about nine miles. Be sure to give yourself a solid three hours to do the job properly. And for the hardcore, both rides are definitely doable in a day.
Note: Call ahead and make sure the shop is open. They’re closed on weekdays and during the winter months.
