San Carlos (also known as “the city of good living”) boasts a rich history. From Native American Lamchin inhabitants to Spanish invaders and those foolhardy “panners” during the California Gold Rush, this small city has played host to a whole series of characters. Now, it’s still about embracing opposites—with a bustling downtown area, several museums, and a homey, small-town feel.
