Description
Huntington’s Dog Beach is much more than a pet-friendly promenade. Located less than a mile north of the town’s main “Surf City” center, this spot has a friendly, communal feel. And while dogs are officially supposed to remain leashed, authorities only remove potentially harmful unleashed dogs.
The nonprofit Dog Beach maintains the beach and provides doggie bags for easy cleanup. There isn’t a place to hose off your pal, but you can scrub his paws for $15 at the nearby self-serve dog wash, Dirty Dog Wash.
Several of the surrounding restaurants, like Seafood Zone on McFadden and Edwards, welcome pets on cozy back patios (with heaters to warm you after a cool dip in the ocean).
