Review: Rosie’s Dog Beach

Ocean Boulevard (between Argonne and Roycroft Avenue)
Long Beach, CA 90803

Eleven years ago, a regular old beach in Belmont Shore was renamed Rosie’s Dog Beach after the lovable bulldog that inspired its existence. Now, the three-acre stretch is the only legal off-leash dog beach in LA County.

The beach is open from 6 a.m. until 8 p.m., and there are a couple restrictions at this gem: One dog per person and aggressive dogs are not allowed. If your dog gets a little too dirty, rinse him off for $15 at the self-service dog wash Long Beach TidyDog, conveniently located down the street.

Fly into the Long Beach Airport. From there, Long Beach has an easy public transportation system, or you can walk.

Is there a list of “aggressive” dog breeds that are not allowed? Or is it just a dog that has an aggressive temperment? Because I have a stafordshire terrier which is usually listed in the “aggressive” dog breeds. But mine is friendly and pleasant with every dog and person she encounters.
