Teacher Workshop: Celebrating 50 Years of Hip Hop
The day kicks off at 10:30 am with a special Teacher Workshop that celebrates the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop. Hosted by the one and only Ms. Arnell, an esteemed educator from Freeport Public Schools, this workshop promises insights into arts integration like never before. Ms. Arnell will share her tips and unveil the free TeachRock lesson plans that have transformed local education.
What’s more, attendees will have exclusive access to the museum after the event, and for educators seeking professional growth, NY CTLE credits through TeachRock are up for grabs. This is a must-attend event for all the teachers out there!
Mike Meehan & The Lucky Ones: A Musical Delight
Later in the day, from 3 pm to 4 pm, the stage at LIMEHOF will come alive with the melodious tunes of Mike Meehan & The Lucky Ones. Their music is a fusion of traditional and alternative country, punk, folk, and literary influences, promising a musical journey like no other.
Mike Meehan, a renowned songwriter and musician, brings his wealth of experience to the forefront. Having recorded with industry giants and graced the biggest stages, including the Paramount Huntington, Harry Chapin Theater in Heckscher Park, and the Great South Bay Fest, Mike Meehan is all set to take you on a musical ride.
The Lucky Ones’ latest release, “Angel Midnight,” dropped in 2022, and it’s bound to leave you wanting more.
LIMEHOF: Where Music Comes to Life
LIMEHOF isn’t just a place; it’s a music lover’s paradise. With its doors open from Wednesday to Sunday, between 12 noon and 5 pm, it welcomes music enthusiasts of all ages.
Step into the world of music history with their first exhibit, featuring replicas of iconic clubs, vintage instruments, posters, and an exact replica of a typical 1970s stage complete with vintage equipment and a sound system that’ll transport you back in time.
Don’t forget to explore the “Hall of Fame,” where over 120 inductees are honored with plaques and exhibits. The museum offers much more, including library access, classrooms for educational programs and masterclasses, a surround-sound theater, and a gift shop brimming with music and entertainment-themed memorabilia.
Ticket prices cater to all budgets, with adult tickets at $22.50, seniors (65+) and veterans at $20.00, and students (with ID) at $15.00. Children under 12 enjoy free admission.
