Ocean Boulevard
Coronado, CA 92118
Description
The occasional plane might whiz overhead from time to time, but on the whole there is a serene sense of isolation on this popular stretch of sand in Coronado (near San Diego). The 24-hour dog beach is situated near the Naval Air Station, but the majestic Hotel del Coronado shimmers to the south and the Point Loma skyline looms to the north.
Dogs are allowed to run and play off leash here, but keep in mind that this side of the Coronado Beach is open to ocean swells. Unless it’s a flat day—or your dog knows how to surf—he shouldn’t swim too far.
A hose and water fountain near the front entrance make for easy clean-off before leaving the sand.
