Description
Meet the small bike shop with the huge heart. Alameda Bicycle only has six bikes—total—available for rent (advanced reservations are advised), but this family-run bike shop also sells and repairs bikes, and operates community outreach programs.

The shop rents out two street cruisers ($25 a day), two road bikes ($40 a day), and two dual suspension bikes ($60 a day). Helmets and locks come free with your rental. Be sure to bring your credit card, as a credit authorization is required for rentals.

It’s all about community here. The shop donates to Alameda public schools and operates a Books 4 Bikes reading program, which promotes both reading and healthy habits in Alameda’s schools. The store also sponsors two cycling clubs, and it hosts a variety of events, from family rides to “how to change a tire” workshops. Plus, Alameda Bicycle operates the BART Bike Stations.
