Description
If you like to get a little history in with your exercise, then Almaden Quicksilver Park is the place for you. From the 19th century until the 1970s, the park was the site of extensive quicksilver, or mercury, mining. The 4,152-acre park encompasses several historic remains, including abandoned towns, cemeteries, old equipment, and mine entrances.

Today, the park is home to 10 miles of bike trails, 34.2 miles of hiking trails, and 23 miles of equestrian trails. On top of bits of history scattered throughout, the park is home to wildflowers, rolling hills, and many a picturesque picnic spot. Ranger-guided history walks are available upon requests.
