Description
When Cecil DeLoach planted his first Pinot Noir grape in 1973, he became a pioneer winemaker in the Russian River Valley. Today, DeLoach Vineyards is operated by Boisset Family Estates, a major player in the Russian River Valley, but the winery is still a trendsetter, now setting the bar for organic, Biodynamic, and sustainable winemaking.

Set off the beaten path, the vineyard is a real treasure, and its gorgeous grounds include an organic and Biodynamic garden, picnic areas, and an outdoor pizza oven (which can be used for a small fee).  The winery is family-friendly, and dogs are welcome as long as they are leashed.

Tours of the facility explore the vineyards and culinary garden, offering a look at the rigors of Biodynamic farming. They are available daily at 11 a.m. and the $15 fee includes a tasting. Drop-in tastings cost $10 (fee waived with purchase) and are available from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.

For an extra-special weekend (Saturday and Sunday between 12 p.m. and 3 p.m.) treat, try the DeLoach “Pinot Experience” a $25 flight of five exclusive Vineyard Designate Pinot Noirs, which often includes rare library wines. The winery also offers a cheese and wine experience ($25 per person, by appointment only) that pairs wines with local artisan cheeses).
