One of the largest distracted driving problems continues to be drivers using a cell phone behind the wheel. The use of cell phones has caused numerous car accidents, and has even changed the possible fault in some rear-end collisions. <\/span><\/p>\n

Using your phone while you’re on the road can cause a collision because it distracts you from being able to pay attention to traffic, signage, and other cars on the road.<\/span><\/p>\n

Here are some of the tips on how to stay safe on the road.<\/span><\/p>\n

Pay Attention<\/span><\/h1>\n

We know you’ve heard this before, but it’s worth repeating: the most important thing you can do while driving is to pay attention.<\/span><\/p>\n

You may be thinking, “Wait, what? Isn’t that obvious?” Well, yes! But it’s also really easy to get distracted when you’re driving. And distractions are deadly\u2014they can cause accidents and injuries, and even cost lives. Here are some of the ways you can stay safe on the road:<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Don’t text and drive<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Don’t talk on your phone unless you have a hands-free device. (Or at least pull over!)<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Try not to get too caught up in conversations with other passengers in the car\u2014it’s okay if they’re talking while you drive; just try not to join in until you’ve parked or pulled over somewhere safe.<\/span><\/li>\n
  • If possible, make sure someone else drives when you’re tired or distracted by other things in life. If you have to drive yourself when tired or distracted, try taking a nap first so that you can stay alert while driving.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
