To commemorate the centennial of the artist&#8217;s birth, 26 of his pieces will be on view in Charm City, in concert with shows at the Provincetown Art Association Museum and the Ward Museum in Salisbury, MD.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nWhile many art critics note the influence of Henri Matisse, Mark Rothko, and Milton Avery in Maril&#8217;s nautically themed canvases, exhibition curator William Johnston says the Baltimore native and part-time P-town resident also drew on his personal experiences for inspiration. That explains the boats, beachfronts, and fish markets in Maril&#8217;s art, which we&#8217;d call a definite celebration of summer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Free admission, as always. A 40-page companion book, &#8220;Herman Maril: An Artist&#8217;s Two Worlds,&#8221; is $15.<\/p>\n<p><strong>How to get there:<\/strong> <em>Both <a title=\"Amtrak\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amtrak.com\/servlet\/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak\/HomePage\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amtrak<\/a> and <a title=\"BoltBus\" href=\"https:\/\/offmetro.com\/ny\/2008\/08\/17\/bolt-for-the-bus\/\" target=\"_blank\">BoltBus<\/a> stop at Baltimore&#8217;s Penn Station, at 1515 N. The Walters is a 15-minute walk south of the station through Mount Vernon, a National Landmark Historic District, one of the city&#8217;s oldest neighborhoods and home to the nation&#8217;s first Washington Monument, two blocks north of the Walters on Washington Place. <\/em><em>The museum is open Wednesday-Saturday, 10am-5pm.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>(Walters Art Museum, 600 N.
