The Brooklyn Museum will host this year&#8217;s inaugural Target First Saturdays series that includes a clap-worthy roster of programming honoring the borough\u2019s local talent and natural landscape.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The free event begins at <strong>5p.m.<\/strong> with a two-hour music session by Brooklyn based folk string band <a title=\"Frankenpile website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/frankenpine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Frankenpine<\/a>. You\u2019ll see cameos from a number of instruments\u2014banjo, fiddle, accordion\u2014to accompany their vocal sound as they perform nature-inspired songs.<\/p>\n<p>The family friendly museum known for showing dialogue inciting films will screen at <strong>6p.m.<\/strong> <strong><\/strong><em>Who Does She Think She Is<\/em>,\u00a0is a documentary about five women and their choice of dealing with the career of motherhood or an outside profession.<\/p>\n<p>At <strong>7p.m.<\/strong> gain deeper insight into the 160 objects in the current exhibit, <em>Tipi: Heritage of the Great Plains.<\/em> Curator, Susan Zeller, will discuss the role and duties of historical Tipi women as well as modern day contemporaries. Or, for lighter programming, photograph yourself with Brooklyn artist Andy Lin\u2019s two-way mirror and remote trigger at his Photo Booth.<\/p>\n<p>As the evening gets under way, loosen up at <strong>8 p.m. <\/strong>to DJ Evil Dee and others for a two-hour party of hip hop and soul. Then, at <strong>9 p.m.<\/strong>, sustainable foodies might want to hear Brooklynite Cathy Erway discuss her two year culinary adventure of not eating out, which formed the book, <em>The Art of Eating In: How I learned To Stop Spending and Love the Stove<\/em>. Or, if you\u2019re inclined to tell a story of your own, visit The Moth who\u2019ll host an hour open mic and storytelling slam.<\/p>\n<p>There is ample reason to return after May 7th as the following week on May 13th, <em>The L Magazine<\/em> partners with the museum for AUDIOPHILE\u2014the second of three spring concerts featuring a duo of bands. Playing evening sets in the glass pavilion will be MEN, an art performance band\/collective along with indie band, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.myspace.com\/savoiradore\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Savoir Adore<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Free admission after 5 p.m. for First Saturday. Programs have limited space available and are ticketed on a first-come, first-served basis. AUDIOPHILE is free with museum admission.
