Its blocks have shops, clubs, crafts, condos, <a title=\"Graffiti Guide \" href=\"https:\/\/offmetro.com\/ny\/2008\/12\/08\/a-self-guided-brooklyn-graffiti-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">street art<\/a>, and yoga studios, just like the rest of the neighborhood, but with surprisingly less traffic, people, and pretension.<\/p>\n<p>Begin on Bedford, heading west towards the East River.\u00a0Cross Berry Street, named for the city\u2019s first mayor. Not New York City, mind you, but the City of Williamsburg, incorporated in 1852. Three years later, it was gobbled up by the larger City of Brooklyn. In an 1896 article in the <em><a title=\"New York Times website\" href=\"http:\/\/query.nytimes.com\/gst\/abstract.html?res=F00F1FFC395A16738DDDAA0A94DA405B8685F0D3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">New York Times<\/a><\/em>, Reverend Doctor Samuel W. Like its brethren in Europe and Queens, this Biergarten has massive communal tables, as well as drink specials and live music. Boisterous bonhomie. Check out the beer plus entree or dessert pairings from 5\u20138 pm, Tuesdays through Fridays.<\/p>\n<p>A few steps further, and you\u2019re at <strong><a title=\"Mast Brothers Chocolate\" href=\"http:\/\/mastbrothers.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Mast Brothers Chocolate<\/a><\/strong> (No. 105A). Since its opening in 2009, this bean-to-bar factory has drawn accolades from foodies, facial hair enthusiasts, and parents, who invoke the ginger-bearded brothers in lectures about the good things that can happen when you get along with your siblings. Don\u2019t be alarmed by the slight acrid smell. It\u2019s all part of the process, which involves cacao, cane sugar, and add-ins like Serrano peppers and sea salt sourced from around the world. In the tasting room, you can see each bar get wrapped by hand, in paper designed by the brothers\u2019 family and friends, and nosh on samples. Back on the other side, the one-year-old <strong><a title=\"Broklyn Denim Company\" href=\"http:\/\/brooklyndenimco.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brooklyn Denim Company<\/a><\/strong> (No. 101) offers pants in a multitude of sizes. Washes and fabrics as well. Yup, they have skinny jeans, but you probably assumed that any store worth its cotton here would sell them, right?<\/p>\n<p>If you&#8217;re more of the sporty type, wander into <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/pilgrimsurfsupply.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pilgrim Surf + Supply<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>(No. 63) to oggle at the perfectly shaped surfboards or attend an ocean-themed <a href=\"https:\/\/pilgrimsurfsupply.com\/blogs\/events\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">art showing<\/a>.
