I\u2019ve learned to embrace the mini-escape, to get lost for an hour or two in a part of the city I seldom see. Such was the case this Saturday. I wandered into Dumbo\u2019s Baco Cafe on a sidewalk sandwich board\u2019s promise of baked eggs. I walked out with a full belly and a smile on my face after lovely conversations with a charming staff.<\/p>\n

On my way to Brooklyn Bridge Park, I noticed construction signs around every corner. January often feels like a month of tearing up and rebuilding. The landscape in this quiet nabe seemed to echo these thoughts. On a wintry weekend morning, I found an unexpected beauty about New York and a city in progress, at work on its New Year’s resolutions.<\/p>\n
