<\/strong>Berkeley’s expansive Tilden Park is made up of 2,079 beautiful acres of open space, marked by hills, lakes, and endless hiking trails that feel far removed from the hectic city.<\/p>\n

Getaway within a city
\n<\/strong>Lush Tilden is a true escape from the hustle and bustle of both Berkeley and San Francisco. Take a swim in Lake Anza, play a round of golf, or wander through the unique biodiversity (replete with beekeeping area)\u00a0of the Berkeley Botanical Gardens<\/a>. There are also steam trains, a petting zoo, pony rides and a carousel.<\/p>\n

The famous Lawrence Hall of Science<\/a>, which is located just down the hill from the designated park area, boasts incredible views of the San Francisco Bay, along with fascinating exhibits like the interactive Science on a Sphere and a seismograph that tracks earthquakes happening around the world.<\/p>\n

Have a field day
\n<\/strong>Tilden\u2019s offers boundless hikes all levels and styles. Before hitting the trails, stock up on snacks at\u00a0Star Grocery store<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(in the Elmwood\/Claremont area) or the Ashby Market<\/strong>. Then head up to Inspiration Point and enjoy lunch with a view.<\/p>\n

Directions<\/strong>
\nTake BART<\/a>\u00a0to Rockridge and then catch AC Transit Bur #67 in to the Canyon Drive. Or take BART<\/a>\u00a0to Downtown Berkeley. from there, you can either take the AC Transit Bus #67 to Grizzly Peak Boulevard, or rent a bike from the BART bike station<\/a> and hit the park on two wheels.<\/p>\n
