Description<\/strong>
\nIf you’ve been looking for the most popular dog beach in San Diego, look no further. Founded in 1972, unassuming Ocean Beach (also known as the “original dog beach”) is a true gem of a spot where your pooch can run to his heart’s content and you can enjoy a truly authentic beach town feel.<\/p>\n

The beach is nestled just west of the San Diego River Floodway and northwest of downtown San Diego, and has made cameos in movies like Endless Summer II <\/em>(featuring Rocky the Surfing Dog). And it’s lovingly maintained by the Dog Beach Committee.<\/p>\n

At the beach\u2019s entrance, you\u2019ll find a wooden surf board jutting out of the ground, and across from it is a giant black paw, which functions as a sort of doggie message board.<\/p>\n

Don’t leave without wandering through Ocean Beach<\/a>, a\u00a0quintessential California Beach town, replete with adorable locally owned shops and eateries.<\/p>\n
