Description<\/strong>
\nThe Fox is quintessential\u00a0movie magic. It’s bold, it’s beautiful, and it’s got an incredible story, to boot. With its rich colors, gold leaf, and grand architecture, the Fox stood out as a beacon of splendor even among the other fantastical movie palaces of its day. Then came television and the slow demise of its downtown Oakland neighborhood, and the Fox was closed in 1966, enduring decades of graffiti, leaks, and even fires.<\/p>\n

After more than 40 years of decay\u2014and several attempts at restoration\u2014the landmark building finally reopened its doors in 2009 as a state-of-the-art theater in Oakland’s newly hip and bustling\u00a0Uptown neighborhood. These days the theater hosts major bands, and its wrap-around building is<\/p>\n

These days music fans flock to the theater\u2014now restored to all its glitzy movie-age glory\u2014to rock out to their favorite bands.\u00a0The vintage movie theater style means there really isn’t a bad seat in the house. Whether you’re in the back and can admire the epic view or right up front in the midst of the pit (with its newly added air vents), it’s all a surreal experience.<\/p>\n

Tip: Check out The Den<\/a> before or after the show. It’s a high class bar offering only the fanciest drinks\u2014a great place to shmooze with fellow concert-goers and prolong the excitement of the night.<\/p>\n
