Sip away the day, surrounded by dense greenery, flowers, and beehives – don’t worry, the bees don’t mind visitors. Picnic tables are available on a first come, first tabled basis or can be reserved ahead of time on weekends and holidays ($5 pp). Bring your own picnic, then pick up a\u00a0 bottle of mead from the Heidrun Meadery tasting room, open daily. Also available nearby: oysters from\u00a0Tomales Bay Oyster Company<\/a> or decadent cheeses and bread from\u00a0Cowgirl Creamery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Tours are offered on weekends (by reservation), and tastings are available daily (reserve ahead if your party exceeds 10). The tasting room itself is a beautifully rustic\u00a0space and includes a gift shop with plants, picnic blankets, local honey, and more. Get to Heidrun Meadery from San Francisco:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Take bus 101 Northbound from the Golden Gate Bridge Welcome Center. Transfer to bus 68 Iverness at the San Rafael Transit Center. Get off at the Shoreline Hwy + Sir Francis Drake Blvd (Golden Gate Transit<\/a>). It’ll be a 15-minute walk to Heidrun Meadery from there. The\u00a0trip is around 2.5 hours. Experienced bikers might consider biking the 35+ miles for a scenic ride along coastal roads and through redwood groves.<\/p>\n
