Launched in the Spring of 2012, offMetro SF is a new travel resource for city dwellers who want to get out of town. The website’s staff researches and reports on the best getaways—mostly car-free—near San Francisco. Like its east coast branch, offMetro NY, oMSF promotes a “greener” lifestyle through coverage of eco-minded escapes from the city that are easily accessible via alternative modes of transportation, be it by BART, bike, bus, or ferry.
If you’d like to contribute your own suggestions on cool places near San Francisco that you can reach with or without a car (though without is always preferable) please share your experiences by filling out the contact form.

“offMetro is one of my favorite resources for getting out of the city and really traveling like a local. And with fuel prices rising, having options that are car-free make the experience even more valuable.”
— CBS Travel Editor Peter Greenberg
“It’s easy to decide where to go on vacation if you’ve got thousands of dollars and a week or more to spend, but planning a quick, cheap day or weekend away is surprisingly difficult—which is why offMetro is a great idea!”
— Condé Nast Traveler’s Word of Mouth Editor Eimear Lynch
