Nasimiyu Wekesa journeyed from Kenya to California. Her shop features a brilliant array of African-inspired, hand-crafted items, largely consisting of intricately beaded jewelry. Every piece in the store is one of a kind creation by Wekesa, a huge feat considering the countless teeny-tiny beads that make up the store’s supply of necklaces, belts, headbands, headdresses, and even chairs. A portion of all of the store’s profits go to Born To Aid, a nonprofit organization Nasimiyu founded with her sister, Mukoyo, to help children in her native village in the Bugoma District of western Kenya.
