The trendy underground Oakland supperclub Paladar Temescal is like a floating (modern) speakeasy: To enjoy these sought-after five-course, you need to be in the know. Most meals are based upon what the founders and chefs, Melissa and Hannah, find at the local farmers’ market, and each meal is themed. Past themes have included a Yucatan! Yum! fiesta and a Dirty South Menu and Spirits (replete with mint juleps).
Pre-fixe meals include an appetizer, salad, first course, entree, and dessert. Each dinner asks for a suggested contribution, usually ranging from $45-$50, and proceeds are often donated to a designated charity.
