Review: Body Time

5560 College Avenue

The original Body Shop (literally—they sold the name rights to the better-known brand), Body Time was doing the “green thing” long before it was in vogue. Peggy Short and Jan Saunders opened the original store on Telegraph Avenue, Berkeley in 1970, using essential oils to create potent perfumes and custom-scented body products. Today Body Time has four stores (including this Rockridge branch) in the East Bay and continues to create luscious, natural body products, both scented and unscented. Talk to the friendly staff about aromatherapy, create your own scent, or just stock up on their skin, bath, and hair products. Whatever you choose, bring your cleaned empty bottles back to be refilled and you’ll score a discount off your next purchase. Also visit their other locations in Berkeley (1942 Shattuck Avenue or 2911 College Avenue) and San Anselmo (611 San Anselmo Avenue).
