Kris and Carol Mungle carefully maintain this former chicken farm turned winter wonderland in the Petaluma hills. The current sales barn is built from materials salvaged from the 13 chicken barns that were there when the Mungles bought it, and over the years they’ve done their part in sustainable farming, from pesticide-free practices to lovingly shaping and pruning each tree.
In addition to the “Lumberjacks” on hand to help you select and cut your perfect tree, the Little Hills Farm is home to a myriad of furry friends, from Bubbles the pig to Misty and Toby, a mother-and-son donkey pair. There’s also a lovely gift shop, and weekend visits from Santa. Candy canes, cider, and smiles included.
You’ll have to drive (to transport your tree). Green it by making sure your car is tuned and all extra cargo is removed, so you burn as little fuels as possible.
